NEW DELHI: A teenage fan managed to breach security at Gaddafi Stadium during the first Test between Pakistan and South Africa on Wednesday (October 15), coinciding with Babar Azam’s 31st birthday, in a desperate attempt to meet the star batsman.Footage from the stadium showed the young fan climbing through the Majid Khan Enclosure and making his way toward the players’ area near the dressing rooms. Alert coaching staff quickly spotted the intrusion and informed security, who promptly intervened and escorted the teenager away despite his repeated pleas to meet Babar Azam.The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident.Babar, born in Lahore in 1994, has been Pakistan’s most reliable batsman over the past decade and remains immensely popular among young fans. Despite facing a challenging patch in form recently, his career numbers highlight his consistency and class.Watch the video hereIn One Day Internationals, Babar has amassed 6,291 runs in 134 matches at an average of 54.23, including 19 centuries and 37 fifties. His T20 International record boasts 4,223 runs in 128 matches at an average of 39.83, with three centuries and 36 half-centuries. In Test cricket, he has scored 4,300 runs in 60 matches, averaging 42.57, with nine centuries and 29 fifties.
