Chhath Puja 2025 School Holiday Today: Schools shut in Noida, Ghaziabad and other states

Chhath Puja 2025 School Holiday: The Gautam Buddha Nagar district administration has announced that all schools in Noida and Ghaziabad will remain closed on Tuesday, October 28, owing to Chhath Puja. As per local reports, the district administration’s circular was shared with schools on Monday evening, following which institutions informed parents about the holiday through official notices and social media posts. Note that Monday, October 27, was already declared a public holiday in Delhi-NCR for Chhath Puja.

Schools across Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha closed on October 28 as cyclone Montha approaches: List of districts

According to reports, the circular issued by the Gautam Buddha Nagar administration stated, “All schools in the district will remain completely closed on October 28 for the festival of Chhath. The District School Inspector should ensure compliance with this order.”

The directive applies to all schools from nursery to Class 12 operating within the district. Officials have reportedly confirmed that the closure covers both private and government-run institutions.

While schools in Noida and Ghaziabad will observe the holiday on Tuesday, the Delhi government has not issued any additional notification for a second day of closure. Delhi schools and offices remained closed on Monday, October 27, which was declared a public holiday by the General Administration Department for the Chhath festivities.

Chhath Puja: Four-day celebration concludes on October 28

Chhath Puja, one of the most important festivals in Bihar, Jharkhand, and eastern Uttar Pradesh, is being observed from October 25 to 28 this year.

–The first day (Nahay-Khaay) was observed on October 25.

–The second day (Kharna) was marked on October 26.

–The Sandhya Arghya, or evening offering to the setting sun, took place on October 27.

The festival concludes with the Usha Arghya, morning prayers to the rising sun, on October 28, which also coincides with the declared school holiday in Noida and Ghaziabad.

Cyclone Montha: Schools shut in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha

Separately, schools in several southern and eastern states will remain closed this week due to Cyclone Montha, which is approaching the Andhra-Odisha coast.

In Andhra Pradesh, district administrations in Kakinada, East Godavari, Konaseema, Eluru, and West Godavari have ordered the closure of schools, colleges, and other educational institutions between October 27 and October 31, depending on local conditions.
