Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday inspected preparations for the upcoming Chhath Mahaparv, at Vasudev Ghat on the Yamuna bank near Kashmiri Gate, and directed officials to ensure cleanliness, safety, and adequate facilities for devotees.

The Chief Minister reviewed works related to cleaning, levelling, lighting, and security at the site and said the Delhi government is “fully committed to ensuring that this year’s Chhath is celebrated in a grander, safer, and more organised manner than ever before”.

Development and Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra accompanied her during the inspection. Gupta said the Yamuna’s water has become “cleaner and clearer” with no visible foam or pollutants and that levelling work at ghats is being carried out with JCB machines.

“All ministers, MLAs, and officials of the Delhi government are personally supervising preparations on the ground. The government is carrying out cleanliness and leveling work at all ghats — from Palla to Kalindi Kunj — on a war footing,” Gupta said.

“…the Chhath festival will set a new benchmark of grandeur and orderliness in the Capital. Just as Delhi has established a new identity through the successful organisation of the Kanwar Yatra, Ramlila, Durga Puja, and Diwali, the city’s residents will once again experience a transformed Delhi during Chhath Puja that reflects a confluence of faith, culture, and cleanliness,” she added.

Officials have been asked to ensure arrangements for sanitation, water supply, lighting, medical aid, and traffic management at all ghats.

Gupta said the government’s goal is to provide devotees a safe and convenient environment while “preserving heritage and promoting progress”.
