NSE, BSE Muhurat Trading Time 2025: The investors are all set for Diwali Muhurat trading, which is held annually and is deemed a special trading period for new investments.

On this day, the Indian Stock Exchanges—Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE)—open for an hour, allowing investors to execute symbolic trades that signal the start of the new fiscal year according to the Hindu lunar calendar, Samvat.

The term ‘muhurat’ refers to an auspicious time in the Hindu calendar, a window believed to bring prosperity and good fortune, and trades placed during muhurat trading are really executed and settled under normal market rules.

For decades before that, business families in Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra celebrated Diwali as the beginning of a new fiscal year; however, when modern-day stock exchanges took over from traditional trading floors, the practice was modified rather than abandoned.

Later, the NSE embraced the practice, ensuring that the ceremony endured even in a world dominated by terminals and tickers.
