With the Phase 2 now operational, PSA India, the subsidiary of Singaporean ports major PSA, said it was already witnessing faster vessel turnarounds and greater operational efficiency at its terminal near Mumbai.

“The extended quay length, supported by new quay cranes, along with advanced automation through GTOS, has helped cut down berthing wait times and improve yard planning and cargo handling,” the company said.

“These enhancements not only ensure smoother vessel operations but also reduce logistics costs for customers, making the supply chain more reliable and predictable,” it added.

The company recently doubled TEU handling capacity to 4.8 million, translatinginto quicker vessel turnarounds, reduced congestion, and more competitive handling costs.

“Together, these improvements cut down delays, enhance supply chain predictability, and lower overall logistics expenses, enabling Indian businesses to compete more effectively in global markets,” the company said.

The company has made a total investment of SG$1.7 billion which makes this one of the largest FDI projects in Indias port sector.

“We see our expansion as more than just capacity building, it is about supporting India’s national priorities such as PM Gati Shakti and the National Logistics Policy,” Gobu Selliaya, Managing Director of PSA India, said in a statement.

“By strengthening multimodal connectivity, including direct rail access to over 61 ICDs and integration with the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor, PSA India is partnering in the creation of a seamless logistics backbone for the country,” he said.

“This partnership helps reduce costs, improve efficiency, and ensure more predictable trade flows, contributing to India’s vision of becoming a leading global logistics hub,” he added.

“Becoming India’s first container terminal powered entirely by renewable energy is a proud milestone for PSA India, proving that large-scale operations and sustainability can go hand in hand,” he further said.

The company said it was building on this by electrifying yard cranes, deploying more energy-efficient equipment, and preparing shore-power solutions for future vessels.

“On the digital side, Phase 2 operations are anchored by GTOS, an advanced terminal operating system that enables smarter yard planning, real-time visibility, and predictive analytics to reduce manual intervention, speed up transactions, and improve reliability,” the company added.

Mr. Selliaya said, “These initiatives ensure operations remain faster, safer, and greener, supporting customer growth while contributing to India’s long-term trade ambitions.”
