GUWAHATI: In an emotional plea on Saturday, Garima Saikia Garg, wife of Zubeen Garg, has called on the public and authorities to withdraw all FIRs against Siddhartha Sarma, the singer’s close aide and manager.In a heartfelt video message, she said, “I appeal to everyone — please withdraw all FIRs against Siddharth and let everything pass off peacefully.”She added, “Please allow Siddhartha to be part of Zubeen’s final journey. I request everyone to set aside any negative thoughts about him. I need all my people around me tomorrow, and I will need Siddharth’s support — without him, I cannot do anything.”She recounted Siddhartha’s unwavering support during Zubeen’s most difficult moments, including his massive seizure in 2020 and the Covid-19 lockdown, when access to resources was severely limited. Siddhartha not only ensured the family had food and supplies but also personally brought Zubeen back from Mumbai by bus for urgent treatment.

The coffin is expected to reach Guwahati around 3am Sunday, to be taken first to Garg’s home, where his 84-year-old father Mohini Borthakur awaits.The CM said the family would have private time for an hour before the body is moved to Sarusajai Stadium in the city for public tribute. Tens of thousands of admirers are expected. Police have formed an SIT under CID additional DG MP Gupta to probe the circumstances of the death after the CM asked the DGP to consolidate FIRs against Shyamkanu and Sidhartha across the state. Sarma has also spoken to Singapore’s high commissioner Simon Wong, who promised cooperation in the inquiry.Cabinet minister Ranoj Pegu met Garg’s family to discuss funeral rites, but details remain undecided.
