A 59-year-old man was found dead with stab wounds on his neck, inside a flat in Rohini’s Begumpur area on Monday afternoon, police said. According to the police, the deceased — identified as Suresh Kumar Rathi — worked with the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) and was found lying in a pool of blood inside the bathroom of the flat.

Police said that a PCR call was received at Begumpur police station around 3:30 pm from the victim’s son, Ankur Rathi, who reported that his father had been killed. When the team reached the spot, they found the body with a stab wound on the right side of the neck, officers said.

The crime and forensic teams were called for inspection, and the body was later shifted to SGM Hospital for post-mortem examination.

“The scene of crime is situated on the first floor of the apartment. The deceased used to visit the flat occasionally, while his permanent residence was at Sector 24 in Rohini. The PCR caller informed that his father had not come home for the past two days and was not responding to phone calls. Therefore, he came to the said flat, which was found centrally locked. He brought the keys from his residence and upon opening the door, found his father lying dead inside,” said DCP Rohini, Rajeev Ranjan.

A case under Section 103(1) (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered at Begumpur police station. Police said further investigation is underway to ascertain the sequence of events leading to the murder.
