Road rage kidnap: Puja Khedkar's dad was in SUV, FIR on mom

PUNE/NAVI MUBAI: Probe into the abduction of a heavy vehicle’s helper by an SUV driver during a road rage incident in Navi Mumbai on Saturday found that dismissed IAS officer Puja Khedkar’s father, Dilip Khedkar, a retired state govt officer, was in the SUV, police said. Both he and his chauffeur have absconded in the SUV, a Navi Mumbai police officer added. The helper was rescued on Sunday from Khedkar’s Pune bungalow, where police reached based on the SUV’s number. A case has been filed against Puja’s mother Manorama for not allowing Navi Mumbai police to enter the bungalow for over an hour. Later when they returned with Pune cops, Khedkar had shifted the SUV out and let her dog loose on the premises, which charged at a cop, report Gitesh Shelke & George Mendonca. 14 detained & released for protest Pune: The Yerawada police detained and released 14 members of a right-wing organisation for protesting in front of a pub in Kalyaninagar around 9.30pm claiming that its management arranged a Pakistani singer’s programme.Senior inspector Ravindra Shelke of the Yerawada police station said, “They gathered in front of the pub when the programme was going on. Our team reached the spot to avert any law and order situation. We took information about the singer and informed the protesters that he was from The Netherlands and not from Pakistan. When they did not listen to us, we detained 14 members and took them to the police station. They were released later.“
