Search Operations launched after Pakistan drones sighted along border in J-K’s Samba

JAMMU: Security forces Saturday launched a search operation after two Pakistani drones were seen hovering over the forward border villages along the International Border (IB) in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir.“The drones were sighted over Challiyari village in the Ghagwal area, and Chamliyal village in Ramgarh late Friday night,” officials said.“BSF personnel have cordoned off specific areas in both border villages and launched a search operation along with police early morning today (on Saturday) to ensure that there is no airdropping of weapons or narcotics on this side of the border,” they said.

Drones from across the border are frequently seen along the LoC and the International Border in Rajouri, Poonch, Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts where security forces have often recovered weapons and narcotics. On September 13, police found a drone with thermal payload entangled in a tree in village Fattu Kotli on the Jammu outskirts. The first drone attack was reported in Jammu on June 27, 2021, when two explosions rocked the Indian Air Force station in Jammu in the early morning within the span of five minutes. The first blast ripped off the roof of a building at 1.37 am while the second one was on the ground at 1.42 am.
