Union Home Minister Amit Shah called a high-level security review meeting to discuss their further planning Tuesday morning, hours after a Red Fort blast.
According to officials, the meeting will take place at Shah’s residence.
“Shah will chair a high-level security review meeting at 11 am. Union Home Secretary, Director IB, Delhi Police commissioner, and DG NIA will attend the meeting. DGP Jammu and Kashmir will virtually join the meeting,” a spokesperson of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) said.
A source said the directors general of police of Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir have collected information about the Red Fort blast and the operation of the police during which they seized 358 kg of explosives suspected to be ammonium nitrate from the rented accommodation of one of the accused in Faridabad’s Dhauj village Sunday.
After the blast, Shah said the investigating agencies were looking at “all angles” and not ruling out any possibility. “I hope our agencies will reach a conclusion on the cause of the blast within a short time, and the senior-most FSL team has also arrived,” he said.
“The NSG and NIA teams, along with the FSL, have started a thorough investigation. Orders have been given to examine all nearby CCTV cameras. We are exploring all possibilities and will conduct a thorough investigation, taking all possibilities into account. All options will be investigated immediately and we will present the results to the public,” he said.
Asked if it was a terror attack, Shah, who later visited the blast site, said, “It is difficult to say what caused the incident. Until the samples recovered from the blast site are analysed by forensic authorities and NSG, we can’t say anything. But we are not ruling out anything, and are investigating the matter from all angles.”

On Tuesday, the Delhi Police said the Hyundai i20 car, which was the source of the explosion, was first spotted at around 7.30 am outside Asian Hospital in Faridabad and later entered the Capital from the Badarpur toll booth via the Faridabad road at around 8:13 am Monday.
Investigators probing the Red Fort blast have zeroed in on a 34-year-old resident of Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama, who bought a Hyundai i20 on October 29.
At least nine people were killed and several others were injured in a blast in a moving car outside Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station in Delhi.
